What it involves
In gilding I apply thin gold leaf to frames, ornaments and furniture parts using traditional techniques. Damaged or lost gold is restored so it blends seamlessly with the original. The result is a warm, authentic golden shine that suits the age and style of the piece.
How I work
- 1Assessing the existing gilding and the base beneath it.
- 2Preparing and, where needed, repairing the ground layer.
- 3Carefully applying the gold leaf.
- 4Polishing and patinating so new and old blend together.
